Many women nowadays endure the pain of undergoing breast surgery for aesthetic purposes such as breast lift and breast augmentation. Breast reduction scars using natural remedies

Scarless breast reduction procedures, unfortunately, are not possible. Depending on the surgical method used for the procedure, whether anchor scar or keyhole scar, visible or minor scarring will still occur.

However, there are ways on how to diminish these scars:

Aloe Vera plant extract. Known to prevent wound or burn scarring, apply the juice extract daily on your wound. You may cover the area with a bandage for further protection.

Silicone gel sheets. This is becoming a popular anti-scarring method, as it is known to flatten and fade scars effectively. Since these sheets are self-adhesive, you can wear them comfortably and are not easily visible even when wearing bathing suits. In addition, it is believed that the silicone material, hydration, and pressure applied on the scar help in reducing the size and visibility of the scar.

Medical grade honey and onion extract. Because it contains vitamins, nutrients, and amino acids, medical grade honey is said to effectively heal wounds and decrease the risk of wound scarring. It poses no health risks to the patient because it has no side effects, thus, it is very much ideal for dressing wounds. On the other hand, because of its antibacterial properties, onion extract is also said to be effective in scar prevention.

Shea butter. Shea butter is best known to hydrate skin and promote cell regeneration. Apply generously on affected areas to lessen scarring.

Proper wound care can go a long way when it comes to preventing scars. Ensure that you keep the wound clean and dry as dirty or damp wound could lead to infections.




Wear correct surgical bra and elastic wrappings so as not to apply too much pressure on the wound when you use the incorrect bra size.




While your wound is healing, avoid staying under the sun for too long. Otherwise, too much exposure to the sun’s harmful rays could turn your wound redder and more pronounced.




Eat a nutritious diet to help accelerate the healing process. It is best to drink lots of fruit juices and water, and to avoid sweets at this time.




Avoid smoking as much as possible until the wound is completely healed. This is because smoking inhibits delivery of oxygen to the wound, thus, healing is slower and skin becomes more prone to scarring.




Do not apply topical gels or lotions with Vitamin E because it could lead to allergic reactions, therefore increasing your risks of infections.

Keep in mind that the sooner you apply anti-scarring treatment to your wound, the better the reaction of your skin against scars will be. In addition, with proper care after your breast reduction surgery, the lesser the chances of you developing visible scars.
